In the largest funding round, a total of 627 million euros in funding was distributed as of the EIC Accelerator deadline in October. 99 innovative start-ups and SMEs from 21 countries were able to prevail against great competition. Among them was DORUCON client CO2BioClean, which was rewarded with a funding amount of 2.2 million and additional 4.4 million euros of equity for the market entry and scaling of their groundbreaking technology.

Since the launch of the funding program in March 2021, 4,000 companies, including numerous startups and SMEs, submitted their ideas. Over 1,800 companies were invited to the second step, 1,098 by the October deadline alone. Among the 99 companies that convinced the jury were 12 percent of all innovators from Germany. Nine full proposals were submitted by DORUCON for the 2nd deadline in 2021, two of which were invited to the third round, to the pitch interview. The company CO2BioClean convinced the expert jury in the final step. In this funding round, 19 percent of the funded companies are represented by female CEOS for the first time.

Who is eligible for funding?

The EIC Accelerator funding is open to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that meet SME criteria, as well as start-ups and young companies based in an EU Member State or in a so-called associated country.

How and what is funded?

High-risk idea with high market potential and degree of innovation can be subsidized by different funding opportunities. On the one hand, there is the option of a grant of up to 2.5 million euros. In addition, there is the option of equity, which can amount to up to 15 million euros. The application process is divided into three phases, in which, among other things, an outline including a pitch video must be submitted, a full proposal must be submitted by the deadline, and in the last step, after a prior review, a jury of experts must be convinced in a pitch interview.
